June, 2005 Tequila & Tapas Party Fund Raiser for The Foundation of The Pure Spanish Horse (quick-link to section below) 2005 El Duende News Phillip was appointed to the Advisory Board for FestUSA, LLC and Spirits of Mexico event. FestUSA is an organization dedicated to educating consumers of distilled spirits, while advocating guidelines for safe and responsible drinking. FestUSA is a proud recipient of Doctors for Designated Driving Platinum Key of Life Award, an award given to select organizations in the hospitality industry in recognition of their commitment to the community and public safety. Phillip was also invited to attend the prestigious La Academia Mexicana del Tequila, to attend the seminario of Experto en Tequila an intensive course. Upon completing the seminar Phillip received his certification as a Catador Oficial de Experto en Tequila. The only designation currently recognized by the academy given to anyone in the USA.

*2nd Annual Spirits of Mexico* - San Diego, California**

Thursday, September 15th 2005 - Announcing Spirits of Mexico, which is taking place at the Plaza del Pasado’s Cantina De Reyes. The *Spirits of Mexico* event hosted in September 2004 was attended by over 400 agave enthusiasts and raised more than $2,500 for the Sky Ranch Foundation via a Silent Auction. A rare bottling of Reserva de Don Julio Reposado, set in a cradle in the form of an Agave plant, which fetched $1,000, was generously donated by Phillip Soto Mares, Catador and President of Tequila El Duende de Don Felipe www.elduendetequila.com. Tequila Hijos de Villa Rifle, donated by Sergio Javier Tomez, Herradura Seleccion Suprema from Sazerac, Pechuga Mezcal from Del Maguey, and special bottlings and gift baskets from Agave de Plata’s Penca Azul, California Tequila’s Asom Broso, Caballeros Inc’s Scorpion & Embajador., Agave Inc’s El Amo, Poco Tequila’s Don Max, Voodoo Tiki Tequila and others helped to reach this unprecedented amount. Synopsis Invited Guests and Press will begin arriving at 5:30PM. The event will end at 9:30PM. Throughout the evening, industry professionals will be on-hand to educate the consumer. Phillip Soto Mares, Catador Oficial de La Academia Mexicana del Tequila, A.C., will be hosting 15 minute seminars on agave spirits, on behalf of the distinguished Tequila Academy. Invited guests include Dale DeGroff, Author, Craft of the Cocktail & President, Museum of the American Cocktail, Gary Regan of Ardent Spirits, Robert Plotkin of BarMedia, Author of !Toma. Sean Salisbury Celebrity Classic 2005
Monday, May 23, 2005 - El Duende participated at the Sean Salisbury Celebrity Classic at the StoneRidge Country Club. We set up the Duende Tequila Tasting Booth on the 9th hole. One thing that I noticed is how many times people played the 9th hole. Could it be there was a little Duende in all the players?
